Logan not only served as a movie ending Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart's last outing as Wolverine and Professor X, the film also introduced viewers to X-23. Stealing most of the limelight courtesy her acting skills, Dafne Keen stood strong opposite a dying Logan and Prof X.
The young star stole hearts despite staying mute in most parts of the movie. Following the end of Logan, fans await update on Keen's X-23 aka Laura to return in the upcoming X-Men movies. After James Mangold teased about a spin-off, there has been no news about the actress' future in the franchise until now.

The X-Men franchise is working on three important releases for the next year. The studio will present the sequel of R-Rated Deadpool, X-Men: Dark Phoenix and New Mutants. With regard to Laura, the only movie where Keen's X-Men character can be seen returning is the New Mutants.
It has now been reported that X-23 might not feature in any upcoming X-Men movies as of yet. Talking to IGN, Logan producer Hutch Parker addressed the topic of X-23's future in the upcoming movies.
"I don't know definitively, but in terms of the stuff we've been talking about, it's not sort of slipping her into the background of another movie. It's looking at that character, which is a great character and has a pretty interesting run within the comics, to find a story that we think she could carry or certainly be kind of majorly significant within," Parker said.
"That's the only kind of thing that Jim as a storyteller, a filmmaker...that's the way his sort of process works. And the way his mind works in terms of what he would aspire to. Which isn't to say that the studio couldn't have a conversation about something else, but the one that we've been kind of discussing loosely and kicking around is more likely to be its own film," he added.

In a recent press event, Jackman had also expressed his support to the new mutant introduced to the cinematic universe. He told Collider that people would buy tickets to watch Kinney's story. "I think it would be very difficult. However, there's a female 11-year-old who could absolutely frickin' nail it, for my money," he said.
New Mutants is slated for release in April next year. The film will be directed by Josh Boone.
