During the interview from Actors on Actors series produced by Variety, Brown spoke to Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld) about her best audition moment, worst audition moment and much more. Talking about her best audition moment, Brown revealed that how she prepared to audition in front of Hugh Jackman and James Mangold (Logan director).
"I was like, 'It's going to be amazing, I'm going to really prepare,' and I sat in my room reading the lines," she said. "Honestly, for me, I felt so — I felt an actor, in the audition room, hitting Hugh Jackman, and James Mangold sitting right in front of me."
However, Brown did not get the role, but the 13-year-old spoke highly of Dafne Keen, the 11-year-old who nabbed the role alongside Jackman. "I watched it; she was incredible. It meant so much to me," Brown said.
The Stranger Things actress also spoke about her worst audition experience which was apparently a Barbie commercial. She quipped, "It was very awkward. It was hard. I had to jump up and down. They gave me this, I don't even know what it was, it was just this thing I had to hold and stand up and play pretend with this other girl."
The young British actress also revealed that she always auditions with an American accent. Besides this, she has another plan of action when directors ask for her name and resume. She just reels off in a smooth American accent, "Hi, I'm Millie. I'm 9 years old. I've been acting for about one year. I'm so perfect, you should totally hire me."
"But that's smart," Wood replied. "You know your audience when you walk into an audition."
The interview with Millie Bobby Brown will air on June 13 on PBS SoCal.
