A Beatles fan could own literally a piece of John Lennon as a US auction house prepares to sell what they have authenticated as a lock of the Liverpool icons hair. Heritage Auctions, who are to sell the clump of hair on 20 February in Dallas, Texas, said it comes from a hairdresser who trimmed Lennons hair in Germany in 1966 while on the set of the movie How I Won the War.
The hair lock is about four inches long and is estimated to contain hundreds of individual strands. According to a statement on Heritage Auctions website, the auction house wrote, To the best of our knowledge, this is the largest lock of Lennons hair ever sold at auction. It can be dated to a specific time and location and has been in the collection of the original owner for all these nearly 50 years.
