There have been more than 250 ceasefire violations by the Pakistani army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir from 2009 till August this year. During these incidents nine Indian military Jawans have lost their lives.
From 2009 till August 5, Pakistani troops have violated the LoC truce 287 times. As per PTI reports, the neighbouring country breached the ceasefire agreement with India on 29 occasions in 2009, which rose to 44 in 2010 and 51 in 2011. While such instances went up to 93 times in 2012, the Pakistani army violated the truce 70 times from January till 5 August this year.
Between 2010 and 2012 three Indian Jawans have been killed. In 2013 alone, seven have been killed so far by two major raids by Pakistani troops. One was in January where two soldiers were killed and one of them was beheaded. On 6 August, an Indian army patroling in Poonch was allegedly ambushed by 20 soldiers belonging to specialist troops of the Pakistani army killing five Indian soldiers.
Moreover, in the past nine days ceasefire breaches by the Pakistani army have been reported on a daily basis.
On Sunday, the Indian army said that Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT) has planned future attacks along the LoC.
"There are inputs of such (BAT) actions. In this area they have not done anything so far. There are inputs that they are going to try something (engineer BAT attacks on the forward posts along LoC)," Brigade Commander, 120 Infantry Brigade, A Sengupta told PTI in Poonch sector along the LoC.
He added that the Indian Army is ready for any LoC attacks by BAT, a mix of Pakistani Special Forces and terrorists. In both the borderline raids of 2013, India has blamed BAT for the killing of Indian soldiers.
The Pakistani army has been firing with mortar bomb, rockets, RPG and high calibre weaponry, Brigadier Sengupta told the news agency.
"Pakistan is not showing any respect to the Indo-Pak ceasefire. They are violating it daily by firing at us. Where is sanctity of this (2003 Ind0-Pak) truce," he added.
