Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has fired a warning at Liverpool, stating that defender Dejan Lovren will only be sold if the Reds are willing to match the club's asking price.
The Saints, who have already lost star players Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert to Liverpool this summer, rejected a £20 million bid from the Merseyside club for Lovren recently, after being dissatisfied with the Reds' payment structure plan.
Later, several reports claimed that the Saints and the Reds have finally reached an agreement over the transfer fee of the Croatian defender.
But now Koeman, who had earlier insisted that he did not want to lose Lovren and the defender would only be allowed to leave for "top price", has hinted that the Reds will have to pay more to secure the the 25-year-old's services.
"If they are interested, they have to come with a bid, and a good one, and then we can speak about that, because the player likes to move," Koeman told reporters, following the Saints' 1-0 win over Swindon Town in a pre-season friendly.
"Players have to be happy in Southampton - they have to fight for the colours of Southampton and, if not, okay, but always if there is a good bid on the table.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have confirmed that West Bromwich Albion has signed their young defender Andre Wisdom on a season-long loan.
"Liverpool have announced that Andre Wisdom is to spend the 2014-15 season on loan at West Bromwich Albion," read a statement on the club's official website.
The 21-year-old, who can play as a right-back or a centre-half, spent the whole of last season on loan at Derby County. He is now expected to meet up with the rest of the Baggies squad, who are on a pre-season tour in the US.
West Brom manager Alan Irvine expressed his delight at having successfully secured the youngster's signature on a season long loan.
"I'm delighted to welcome Andre to the club. I've spoken to Brendan Rodgers, who I've known for a very long time and who I trust implicitly. He said Andre would do a good job for us. That was reassuring," Irvine told the Baggies' official website.
The Scot also praised Wisdom's ability to play in a number of positions at the back.
"He's a versatile lad. He's played as a right-back for Liverpool in the Premier League last season, he also played as a full-back for Derby. He grew up as a centre-back and played on the left side of central defence for Liverpool against Preston on Saturday," Irvine added.
