Liverpool are reportedly looking to table a bid for Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno as the Merseyside outfits look to strengthen their backline this summer, according to ESPN.
The 21-year-old Spaniard, who was a part of the side that emerged victorious against Benfica in the Europa League final on Wednesday night, is expected to be available for a transfer fee of £15 million.
Liverpool, who were an explosive attacking side this season, scoring 101 goals in the Premier League, were pretty poor at the back, conceding 50 goals, and this eventually cost them the Premier League title.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to get new players, especially defenders, to strength his side before the start of the new season.
In order to raise transfer funds, Rodgers is planning on offloading many fringe players, who are no longer needed by the club.
The left-back position has been a big problem for the Reds this season as Rodgers had to use Jon Flanagan, a natural right-back, as a makeshift replacement after Jose Enrique was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury in November.
Although Enrique is expected to make a return by preseason, Rodgers is keen to get a new left-back as cover and to give Enrique some competition.
Meanwhile, Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez has played down the speculation that he is considering leaving Liverpool this summer.
The 27-year-old, who penned a new four-and-a half year deal with Liverpool in December, denied rumours of a clause in his contract that will allow him to join Barcelona or Real Madrid this summer.
"There is no clause that suggests a priority for a specific team. My head now is focused on the World Cup. My agent tells me what's there. It's more speculation than reality," Suarez ws quoted as saying by the BBC.
The Uruguayan swept all the English awards - FWA Player of the Season, PFA Player of the Season, Premier League Player of the Season and the Golden Boot - after scoring 31 league goals from 32 appearances this season.
