Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Borussia Dortmund's Ciro Immobile as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to sign a new striker in the summer.
Signing a quality striker is believed to be the main priority of the Reds this summer as Liverpool look to do better in the Premier League and other competitions next season.
The Reds were again expected to challenge for the Premier League title this season following their excellent performances in 2013/14, but they were not able to do so especially due to their poor performances up front.
Rodgers did sign the likes of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert following the departure of their talisman Luis Suarez to Barcelona last summer, but both players have proved to be big flops this season, managing only three Premier League goals between them.
Daniel Sturridge, who scored 21 goals in the Premier League last season, has also not been very impressive this time around due to him being out of action for almost five months with a thigh and calf injury.
As a result, Liverpool's performances have suffered this season as they are currently fifth in the Premier League, 19 points behind leaders Chelsea.
They also failed to progress beyond the group stages of the Champions League, but were a little better in the Capital One Cup and the FA Cup as they managed to reach the semi-finals of both the competitions before getting knocked out by Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively.
Still Liverpool are not satisfied with their performances this season, and are reportedly looking to spend big in the transfer market this summer in order to strengthen their current squad.
And according to the Metro, Rodgers has identified Dortmund's Immobile as his main target this summer.
The 25-year-old Italian, who moved from Torino to Dortmund for an undisclosed transfer fee last summer, has been unable to impress at the Westfalenstadion, with him only managing three goals in the Bundesliga this season.
Due to this reason, there are speculations of Dortmund wanting to offload the Italian this summer, and Liverpool are reportedly interested as they believe that they can revive the striker's earlier goal scoring form when he was in Italy.
Dortmund are believed to have demanded £17 million for the Italian, but the Reds will be hoping to land him at a lesser price due to his poor form this season.
