After Steven Gerrard's decision to quit Liverpool at the end of the season, the Reds are on the lookout for a midfielder with similar credentials.
When it comes to Gerrard's replacement, it is evident that a number of players would be linked to Anfield.
While they are eyeing Roma's midfielder Miralem Pjanic as Anfield legend's replacement during the summer, Liverpool would not find it easy to sign the star player as he has generated interest from Manchester United as well. Additionally, La Liga giants Real Madrid are also said to be keeping tabs.
Though, it may not be fair to call Pjanic as Gerrard's replacement, the Bosnian has enough talent in him to try and fill Gerrard's huge boots with age by his side.
He is just 24 years old and is gradually earning a decent name for himself in world football.
He garnered appreciation for his impressive performance in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, though his team, Bosnia, could not progress to the knockout stages of the competition.
Even if the player signs for the Reds and achieves one fourth of what the Liverpool legend accomplished, he would be loved by the Kopites.
The Gazzetta dello Sport report claims that the Reds have prepared a €30m offer for the Bosnian, earning an annual wage of €4m in the process, which is said to be more than what the Italian outfit provides to Pjanic. The player presently earns €3.6million annual wage.
Pjanic has been an instrumental player for the Italian outfit since joining from the French club Lyon in 2008 after an impressive spell.
He has scored 20 goals for Roma in all club competitions so far along with 4 assists to his name.
Roma are currently playing some entertaining brand of football, as they lie on second place in the Serie A standings with 39 points from 17 matches. They are just a point behind Juventus.
Would the Italian side allow the midfielder to leave or for that matter would Pjanic move to a team, which might not assure him champions league football?
The Express reports that the player might be allowed to leave as Louis Van Gaal, Manchester United manager, is eager to sign another Roma midfielder David Strootman as the club are determined to keep him at Roma.
