Liverpool are believed to preparing launching a bid worth £25 million to land Theo Walcott from Arsenal to the Anfield, reports The Sun. Walcott has been one of the most key figures for the Gunners over the years but the England winger has had an inconsistent 2015-16 season.
The 27-year-old played his 11th season with Arsenal and will be entering his 12th year at Anfield in the 2016-17 season. However, that will happen if at all Arsenal manage to keep him happy and hold on to him until the end of his contract -- summer of 2019.
Walcott is being actively pursued by Liverpool, who reportedly could land him on a four-year deal.
The British publication stated that the winger, who was not picked up for the England squad for Euro 2016, held talks with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger following the end of the previous season about the his playing role in the team. Walcott didn't make a lot of appearances for the Gunners last season and he also had no fixed position in the team.
He made a total of 28 appearances last season in the EPL and was mostly deployed either in the centre forward position or on the wings. Both the parties reportedly came to a consensus that Walcott from now on, will only be deployed on the wings and he would have to compete for places alongside the likes of Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain and Alex Iwobi, who is believed to be cementing his place in the Arsenal XI in the coming years.
The Reds, meanwhile, feel that Walcott is one of the players who could fit perfectly into Jurgen Klopp's plan of things. Liverpool are currently in the market to look out for a pacy and versatile attacker. Walcott, reportedly, is also looking for a fresh start in his career.
