Liverpool have roped in Sadio Mane from Southampton. The official announcement from the club came on Tuesday.
Liverpool is said to have paid around £30 million. The original fee has not been disclosed by the club, but Mane has now joined one of the most expensive players list in Liverpool. The Senegalese moved to Anfield on a five-year contract.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has always been an admirer of Mane. Klopp wanted to sign him for Borussia Dortmund while he was the manager of the German club.
Mane's performances against Liverpool also caught Klopp's eyes and the latter is not someone who is going to ignore.
The 24-year-old will now get a chance to work under Klopp and he too feels that he has chosen the right gaffer to work with.
"I knew Liverpool were interested in me, I had some [other] opportunities, but I think for me this is the right club, the right coach and the right moment to change. I am very happy to be a part of Liverpool Football Club," Mane was quoted as saying by the official website of Liverpool.
"He [Klopp] said he wanted me to come to play for Liverpool. I didn't even have to ask myself, I said straight away 'yes, I am interested' because I know Liverpool. I am convinced Liverpool are the right club for me with the right coach."
Mane has now followed a well-trodden path to leave Southampton for Liverpool FC. Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne and Rickie Lambert were the players who came to Anfield from St Mary's before Mane.
