Delhi Daredevils kick-started their IPL 2016 campaign being listless as usual against the Kolkata Knight Riders. But, they bounced back strongly and came up with a clinical performance against the Kings XI Punjab - courtesy a half-century from Quinton de Kock and a four-wicket haul from leggie Amit Mishra.
Now, the Zaheer Khan-led Delhi Daredevils will be up against a side which hosts an array of superstars in their ranks — the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Virat Kohli & co. bludgeoned Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first match of the IPL 2016.
With the kind of batting strength RCB hosts every year, one will feel for them not to have won a single IPL trophy ever since the tournament's inception. But in the current season of the IPL, they are more stronger.
It is highly unlikely that all of Kohli, Ab de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Shane Watson and Sarafaraz Khan will fail together. The Daredevils can only hope that.
Playing at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the visitors will be under pressure as the capacity crowd of 25,000-30,000 will be right behind the home side.
Zaheer should not have any opinion other than batting first if he wins the toss. However David Warner did bowl first against RCB in their first game of the IPL 2016, that decision back-fired as Kohli and AB were on fire. But tonight, Zaheer will have to back his own instincts and hope that his bowlers deliver an excellent performance to outclass this batting-heavy RCB side.
Rahul Dravid's advice should be helpful for the Daredevils players when they take on RCB, as they are coming into this match after a comprehensive win over the Kings XI Punjab. Dravid knows this ground and conditions pretty well. The legendary Indian batsman, who is now the mentor of the Daredevils, will hope that his players put up a spirited show against RCB.
With Chinnaswamy Stadium having short boundaries, the bowlers will have to be right on the money with their line and length. If they miss, the batsmen will not think twice before sending the white cherry out of the park.
