The body of producer Parvathamma Rajkumar has been kept at the Poornaprajna School grounds at Sadashivanagar, Bengaluru. The wife of Sandalwood matinee idol breathed her last at 4.40 am on Wednesday, May 31. The final rites will be performed at the Rajkumar memorial at the Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Home Minister G Parameshwara and many top politicians paid their homage to Parvathamma Rajkumar. The entire Sandalwood is mourning the death of the legendary producer and all the film-related activities remain shut on Wednesday.
Sa Ra Govindu, the President of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, said, '"I was associated with the family for 35 years. Whatever I earned it is because of Parvathamma Rajkumar. May her soul rest in the peace. " He has also requested the exhibitors to observe bandh today over her death.
"Parvathamma was the strength behind Rajkumar. She was mother for entire Sandalwood. Her death is a bigg loss to us. I pray the god to give their family to overcome the grief," actor Mukya Mantri Chandru told reporters.
She is survived by three sons — Shivaraj, Raghavendra and Puneeth Rajkumar — and two daughters — Poornima and Lakshmi.
Parvathamma Rajkumar was born on December 6, 1939. She married Rajkumar at the age of 13. She turned producer with Trimurthi and went on to do over 75 movies. As per her family and well-wishers, Parvathamma Rajkumar was a strong woman, who stood like a pillar of strength to her husband.
