Nandamuri Balakrishna's next movie "Lion" will be released in a large number of cinema halls across the US and Canada on 14 May, smashing the record of his previous film "Legend".
The posters and trailer of "Lion" starring Balakrishna, Trisha and Radhika Apte in the leads, had created huge demand for its overseas theatrical rights. All Ocean Media has acquired its US distribution rights for a whopping price and has already booked over 100 cinema halls across the US and Canada.
Balakrishna's last outing "Legend" was released in over 60 screens across North America, and it was the biggest screen count for a Balakrishna movie. The film had collected ₹2.15 crores ($357,829) at the US box office in its opening weekend. The response has encouraged the distributors of "Lion" to book a large number of cinema halls in the country.
The distributors of "Lion" have planned to hold paid premiere shows in about 70 cinema halls in the US and Canada on 13 May. The movie has seen a good response to advance booking.
"Online booking was opened in most of the locations and the response so far has been tremendous. We are trying our best to accommodate and add more shows. In Michigan, Texas and California alone 6 locations added based on Fans request with prime time actors like Radhika Apte, Trisha, Prakash Raj, M S Narayana Ali, etc.," reads a press statement released by the distributors.
"Lion" is touted as a commercial film with a nice blend of action, entertainment and family sentiments. Nandamuri Balakrishna will be seen in two different roles in the movie, which has been directed by Satya Deva and produced by Rudrapati Ramana Rao under the banner SLV Cinema.
