Kunjannam Antony, the oldest woman in India passed away on Tuesday, 24 March, due to age-related illness.
She was 112 and had entered the Limca Book of Records for being the oldest woman in India in October 2014.
Kunjannam, who hails from Kechery in Thrissur, was admitted to Amala Medical College Hospital after she complained of uneasiness on Monday.
Her final rites will be performed on Wednesday, 25 March.
Meanwhile, her relatives were planning to celebrate her 113th birthday on 20 May.

In an interview to the The Times of India, the 112-year-old had mentioned that vegetarian food and regular walks are the tips for her healthy life.
"I want to live more, but I don't want to be a burden to others. I always thank God for His support throughout my life," she had said earlier.
Unmarried Kunjannam used to work as a maid in a Hindu family after her parents passed away when she was young. Her 10 siblings had also died earlier.
"At 112 years, Kunjanam Anthony of Thrissur, Kerala is the oldest woman in the country. The available records show that she was baptised at the Our Lady of Rosary Church, Eranallur under the Arch-diocese of Trichur on May 20, 1903," according to Limca Book of Records.
