Apple's grand entry in the wearable space resulted in many tech giants beefing up their efforts. LG is taking charge by leading the luxury smartwatch market with an impending launch of LG Watch Urbane in India soon.
The smartwatch comes with an elegant and a premium look but it is not expected to come cheap. LG is yet to make an official announcement, but the rumours already hint at the smartwatch's price to be around ₹35,000. With such high price tag, LG is aiming for the well-off who want a smartwatch that looks like a traditional wrist watch.
According to NDTV, LG is planning to release just the Wi-Fi variant of the LG Watch Urbane and not the 4G LTE model. The specs of the LG smartwatch include a 1.3-inch circular Plastic OLED display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels and 245ppi. The smartwatch is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC that is paired with 512MB of RAM and comes with 4GB of internal storage. Like other smartwatches in the market, the LG Watch Urbane also boasts sensors such as heart rate, 9-axis gyro, accelerometer compass and a barometer.
The watch's design is the main highlight, which gives it a premium look and feel. It has a stainless steel body and swappable stitched natural leather strap. The IP67 certification makes the Urbane resistant to dust and water.
Powering up the smartwatch is a 410mAh battery. Despite the Urbane smartwatch having an always-on ambient display to show time always, it offers a decent battery life like other competing rivals.
LG Watch Urbane comes in silver and rose gold hues and both variants are expected to be available sometime this week. It is safe to assume that the new LG smartwatch will also be listed through Google Play Store like its predecessors.
