South Korean technology firm LG announced on Thursday that the company's flagship mid-range L Series 3 smartphone L90 in select global markets this week.
"With its competitive specs and exquisite design, we expect the L90 to continue the success of the L Series in the global marketplace," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
"It offers the very best of LG in design, hardware, OS and UX features so 3G smartphone users worldwide will be able to enjoy a truly first-class smartphone experience," he added.
LG L90 sports a 4.7-inch qHD (960x540p) IPS screen and is powered by the latest Android v4.4 KitKat OS. It is backed by an efficient 1.2GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor with Adreno 305 graphics engine (same CPU found in the Motorola's best-selling handset Moto G). It also houses 1GB RAM, 4GB (expandable up 32GB), 8.0-megapixel camera, 1.3-megapixel snapper on the front and 2540 mAh battery.
One noteworthy attribute of L Series 3 L90 is that it boasts the gesture-control feature 'Knock Code', wherein the user can switch on the phone by just tapping on the screen, using more than 86,000 combinations. The knock pattern can be entered on any area of the screen, whether the display is turned on or off, using anywhere from two to eight taps.
LG L Series 3 L90 will be initially made available in CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) regions (neighboring nations of Russia), and later in other markets. The price of the device is expected to be revealed locally during the launch.
