Consumer electronics major LG on Thursday said that the big screen Optimus G Pro smartphone would hit major markets of Asia in June, beginning with Hong Kong and later in India, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia and other regions by next month.
During the announcement, LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, president and CEO, Dr. Jong-seok Park, said "LG's Optimus G Pro sets a new benchmark in the over 5-inch display smartphone category which is catching on with consumers everywhere who aren't interested in owning both a phone and a tablet."
"Asian customers are leading many of today's technology trends and we're confident Optimus G Pro will find a large following in this region."
The South Korean firm had initially launched the 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro phablet in its home country way back in mid-February and released it in North America last month.
LG Optimus G Pro sports a 5.5-inch IPS Plus LCD screen with full HD 1920x1080p display resolution (pixel density: 400 pixels per inch) and runs on the Android mobile OS v4.1.2 Jelly Bean powered by a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 series quad-core processor with Adreno 320 graphics engine.
The new LG smartphone also comes with smart features, similar to those in Galaxy S4, such as Smart Pause video playback, which tracks the user's eye movement to automatically pause and play the video when he/she turns back to the screen. Other features include dual-recording which allows the user to capture videos using both front and rear cameras simultaneously for a picture-in-picture experience.
According to various reports, LG Optimus G Pro is expected be price around ₹40,000.
