Price details of the soon-to-be released LG Nexus 5 (2015) have surfaced online revealing that the device would cost lesser than its predecessor.
Technology blog Android Authority, citing sources with the knowledge of Google device launch plans, has claimed LG Nexus 5 (2015) aka Bullhead and Huawei's Nexus 6 (2015) series aka Angler will be made available on Play store on 29 September.
The tipster also added that LG-Google might use Nexus 5X as the commercial moniker for the 2015 version and retail it in white, black, and light blue colour options with prices starting from $399 (around €359/₹26,500) for the 16GB model. The 32GB variant is expected to set you back by $449(around €403/₹29,800). That's actually less than what the original Nexus 5 (2015) – 16GB and 32GB -- models sold for. They were priced at ₹28,999 ($436) and ₹32,999 ($497) when they first got launched in India.
The release date details revealed by sources are in line with what CNET and MK Post (South Korea) confirmed in the last few weeks. But we have some doubts over the pricing details. With every passing year, devices' prices usually go up. This is unavoidable due to inflation and rise in the cost of components and also in terms of the making changes. Furthermore, India's currency exchanges rates has depreciated against the US Dollar in recent times, due to fluctuation in export-import trade.
It is quite possible that Google, in its bid to make further inroads in the price conscious emerging markets like India and other Asian and African markets, might have subsidised the upcoming Nexus phones. This is just us speculating based on our intuition and nothing is set in stone. We just have to wait few more weeks to really know what Google has in store for us.
LG Nexus 5 (2015) aka Bullhead:
Unlike Huawei Nexus 6 (2015), LG's Nexus 5 (2015) is said to be a sub-flagship vanilla Android phone. It is expected to sport 5.2-inch full HD (1920x1080p) display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor backed by 3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB inbuilt storage, Type-C USB port and a 2700 mAh battery. It is also expected to house 12.3mp main camera on the rear-side and 5mp snapper on the front.
Huawei Nexus 6 (2015) aka Angler:
It is expected to boast QHD (2560x1440p) display, Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB RAM, 21mp camera with Sony IMX230 sensor, USB Type C port and Android Marshmallow OS out-of-the-box.
As of now, there is no word on how much Huawei Nexus phone would cost, but due the generous use of metal in the phone, it will certainly cost way more the LG Nexus phone. Stay tuned for more updates.
