South Korean consumer electronics major LG is confirmed to unveil the flagship smartphone G5 on Feb. 21, the very same day rival Samsung is also slated to pull the wraps off the Galaxy S7 series.
Multiple reports have indicated that LG G5 will come with formidable features to match the Galaxy S7 series. To provide a better perspective on LG G5, we have leafed through multiple reports with reliable sources and come up with a list of specifications, which are most likely to feature in the upcoming phone.
Display and Design:
LG is reportedly coming up with new design for G5. The company has incorporated power button and volume rockers to the right-side edge. In the previous generation G series, they used to be placed on the rear-side, below the camera module.
One recently leaked image has revealed that LG G5 will boast of dual-camera with LED flash placed in between the two snappers and a circular shaped finger-print sensor below it. So, due to lack of space, power and volume keys have been shifted to the edge.
It also showed that LG has used metal on the rear-side to provide sense of premium feel to the flagship phone G5.
As far as display is concerned, LG G5 will sport 5.6-inch screen with QHD (2560x1440p) resolution.
Earlier this month, LG confirmed on Twitter that G5 will boast 'Always On' display, where in select part of the screen will always be active to show time, notifications and other stuff. Read more about it here.
Processor, RAM and Storage:
Just a few days ago, American chipset maker Qualcomm confirmed on Twitter that LG G5 will come shipped with the company's new Snapdragon 820 SoC (System-on-Chip).
It will be backed by 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt memory, with an option of expansion via micro SD card.
Camera:
As mentioned earlier in this article, LG is using dual-camera in G5. It is the first time the company is planning to incorporate such type of hardware in its flagship phone. That being said, many smartphone makers, for instance HTC, had used dual-cameras in their products, but failed to garner positive response from critics and fans.
It will be interesting to see how the fans will react to the new camera in LG G5.
LG G5 is expected to house a 13MP primary snapper and a 5MP secondary camera to assist in capturing finer details of a picture. It is also expected to house an 8MP camera on the front, which would be enough to get a decent selfie.
Mobile Operating System:
Earlier this month, LG launched a couple of new smartphones -- X series and Stylus 2 -- with Android Marshmallow OS, so LG G5 is all but confirmed to ship with same OS out-of-the-box.
Price:
Earlier in the month, LG G5 was accidentally listed on Dubai based e-commerce site for AED 2500 Dirham ($ 681/€ 611/Rs 46,625).
