LG's first commercial modular designed flagship smartphone G5 can be pre-ordered later this week.
The company has confirmed that the new LG G5 can be pre-booked at the brick-and-mortar LG brand shops and online exclusively at Flipkart, starting from May 21 in India.
Prospective buyers who register for LG G5 before May 30 will get the companion device, LG Cam Plus for free.
"The wait for the most anticipated smartphone, in fact the first ever modular phone of 2016 to arrive in India is now over. Customers can now pre-book the LG G5 and we hope more and more people will take advantage of this opportunity. The G5 is our most innovative smartphone till date and consumers would surely be awestruck on the most innovative modular concept of LG G5. We are very excited to bring LG G5 to India," Amit Gujral, marketing head (Mobiles), LG India, said in a statement.
LG has not revealed the price of the LG G5. It is expected to be announced after May 30, the day when the pre-booking window closes.
As said before, the USP of LG G5 is its modular design language. LG G5 users can simply pull the bottom segment of the device like a tray and swap the battery. The bottom segment also acts as add-on port, where users can dock accessories like LG CAM Plus.
The LG CAM Plus comes with physical buttons for power, shutter, record, zoom, LED indicator and comfortable grip. It also offers intuitive auto focus and exposure lock, the features usually found in standalone digital cameras.
It is worth mentioning that the company has incorporated a separate 1,200mAh capacity battery inside the CAM Plus, so that users can enjoy longer shooting times on LG G5.
LG G5 also boasts dual-cameras on the back — one with a standard 78-degree lens and another with a 135-degree wide angle lens, the widest available in any smartphone in the market, the company claims.
Other stipulated features of LG G5 include metal-based uni-body design, 5.3-inch QHD display, Android Marshmallow OS, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU, 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, 32GB inbuilt memory and a 2800mAh battery.
