Last month, LG had announced that G3 would hit stores in select international markets, starting from 27 June in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore and Philippines, while the rest of Asia, Europe, the Middle East and other regions were to receive the shipments in July. And now it looks like company will indeed deliver its promise to release the flagship phone in India later this month.
Indian online store Infibeam.com has already revealed the prices of the G3 variants; 16GB and 32GB models - ₹46,990 and ₹49,990 respectively - and interested consumers can even pre-book the device on the website.
LG G3 flaunts a 5.5-inch QHD (2560x1440p) IPS display with a staggering pixel density of 538 ppi (pixels per inch). Besides the high-resolution screen, LG G3 also houses a unique 13.0-megapixel camera with laser based auto-focus feature, which no other top-end phone in the industry can boast off.
This feature measures the distance between the subject and the camera using a laser beam, enabling quick capture of good quality photos even under low-light conditions. It also boasts OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilization Plus). On the front, it packs a 2.1-megapixel snapper.
Under the hood, it comes loaded with Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS, 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 series quad-core CPU, Adreno 330, 2GB (3GB for some markets) RAM, 16GB/32GB eMMC inbuilt storage (expandable up to 128GB) and a 3,000 mAh battery.
Other value-added features include Knock Code screen unlocker, Smart Key board (intuitive feature learns user writing habits and predicts words in future texting), Smart Notice (this is more like Google Now feature which recommends suggestion, like foretelling user to take umbrella by referring to local area climate data from internet) and Smart Security, this will empower user with a 'kill switch', where in if they ever lose the phone, they can remotely disable phone and clear data. This feature also provides folder lock options as well.
Once released, LG G3 will be up against a Chinese made Oppo Find 7 (expected to debut in India later in July), which also boasts 2K display. It will also be competing with tier-1 brands Samsung Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2, HTC One M8 and Apple iPhone 5S.
