Consumer electronics giant, LG on 16 February announced the third generation L Series mid-range smartphones- L90, L70 and L40, just days ahead of the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2014 event.
"In addition to inheriting the refined design aesthetic that is synonymous with LG's premium devices, the L Series III provides an array of user benefits that extend far beyond a simple upgrade," said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
"From the design to the OS to the UX, the L Series III exemplifies LG's commitment to bringing the best smartphone experience to as many consumers as possible. We're confident that the L Series III will be a strong volume driver in 3G markets." He added.
Among the three smartphones, L90 boasts superior specifications. It houses 4.7-inch qHD (540x960p) IPS display, Android 4.4 KitKat OS, 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory, 8.0-megapixel camera, 1.3-megapixel snapper on the front and 2,540 mAh battery.
On the other hand, L70 sports 4.5-inch WVGA (800x480p) IPS screen and runs on the latest Android KitKat OS powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM and 4GB storage on board. According to the company, this smartphone's camera specifications depends on the region it get released. L70 will either have 8.0-megapixel or 5.0-megapixel as main camera and VGA based front camera.
Whereas the third handset, LG L40 falls in the entry level segment. It features a small 3.5-inch screen with HVGA (480x320) resolutions and ships with1.2Ghz dual-core CPU, Android v4.4 KitKat OS, 512MB RAM, 4GB inbuilt storage, 3.0-megapixel main camera and a 1,700 mAh/ 1,540 mAh (will vary on the market).
All the three LG smartphones are expected to be showcased at the MWC 2014, but there is no word on their price details or when the devices would hit the global markets.
