We witnessed some of the biggest international companies, especially from China, foray into India, making the country one of the fastest growing smartphone markets. 2016 is going to be another great year to look forward to for smartphone lovers. New brand LeTV will join the smartphone battle next year, with the China-based Internet giant confirming an event in New Delhi on 5 January.
Specifics of the event are still unknown but reports suggest LeTV will make its smartphone presence felt in India with one of the four affordable premium devices. LeTV has a very small smartphone portfolio, which includes Le 1, Le 1 Pro, Le Max and Le 1s.
LeTV could launch any of its four devices in India on 5 January. All four devices have a lot to offer at a very affordable price, which helped it gain enormous success in China. In an email statement, LeTV has said it reportedly sold 1 million Le Superphones in China in November via online sales.
LeTV prides itself with the introduction of the world's first mirror-surfaced fingerprint scanner technology in its Le 1s smartphone. With this tech, LeTV claims the handset can recognise the owner's registered fingerprint in a matter of just 0.15 seconds with 99.3% accuracy. Users can store up to five fingerprints. The phone also supports 360-degree touch unlock system.
LeTV was reportedly spotted testing its Le 1s Superphone in India, which makes it a front-runner among other devices likely to be released in the country, Tech First Post reports. In China, Le 1s sells for CNY 1,099, which is roughly Rs 11,000, a highly-competitive price given the specs.
Le 1s features a full metal unibody, which makes it even more appealing at the given price range. Here are the key specs of the Le 1s:
- Display: 5.5-inch Full HD display
- Processor: 2.2GHz MediaTek Helio X10 processor
- RAM: 3GB
