ZUK, a new subsidiary of Lenovo, has launched its first ever smartphone dubbed as Z1 in China.
The new ZUK Z1 sports metal-frame around its corners to provide a sense of premium feel and also a sturdy structure so that the phone will be able to withstand accidental drops. On the front, it sports a 5.5-inch full HD display with speaker-grill on top (middle) and an 8mp camera on the right side.
On the back, it packs a feature-rich 13mp Sony Exmor RS camera sensor with dual LED flash, OIS (Optical Image Stabiliser) and other photography enhancing features inside it.
Key attribute of the new ZUK Z1 is that it ships with massive 4100 mAh battery that can run the phone for close to 38 hours of 4G talk time and up to 526 hours, that's more than 21 days under standby mode.
Other notable features include U-Touch, a finger-print security feature on the home button and the reversible Type C USB port that is set to be become an industry standard in 2016.
Under the hood, it houses 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 series quad-core CPU, Adreno 330 graphics engine, 3GB LPDDR 3 series RAM and 64GB (eMMC 5.0) storage.
Lenovo ZUK Z1 Release and price details:
In a bid to take on emerging players like Xiaomi, Lenovo has made ZUK the company's online-only sub-brand and the Z1 phone will get released on e-commerce sites on 18 August for ¥1700 (around $276/€250/₹17,860).
Will Lenovo Release ZUK Z1 in India?
As of now, there is no official word from the company on whether it will release ZUK Z1 in India or not, but going by features and its affordable price-tag, this phone is certain to find takers in the price-sensitive market like India. Since Lenovo and its subsidiary Motorola are already making strides in terms of market share, especially the budget and mid-range category in the country, we cannot for sure say the Chinese company would introduce a third brand and risk cannibalising its own devices' sale. Stay tuned for more updates.
