Lenovo-backed ZUK Z1 is ready to hit the international markets, as ROM maker Cyanogen has announced support for the device's international variant. In a brief Google+ post, Cyanogen confirmed that the ZUK Z1 international model will be available in mid-October, running on the latest Cyanogen OS 12.1 out of the box. The feature-heavy handset will make waves in the high-end smartphone segment with its impressive features such as fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port and more.
According to Cyanogen's post earlier today (21 August), the ZUK Z1 was an instant hit in China with over 2 million pre-orders in just a week. The only difference between the handset's Chinese variant and its international counterpart will be the operating system. In China, the ZUK Z1 is powered by the company's own ZIUI whereas Cyanogen will take charge in international markets.
"The ZUK Z1 international version will be the first device from ZUK to come preloaded with the commercial Cyanogen OS. Combining Cyanogen OS 12.1 with the latest highest end hardware, the Z1 is poised to provide a fast, secure and beautiful device for Android users," ZUK's official blog post, after announcing the partnership, reads.
The ZUK Z1 is a true challenger to all other flagship smartphones featuring premium specs with high price tags. Powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, the ZUK Z1 packs 3GB DDR3 RAM, 64GB storage and Adreno 330 GPU for graphics.
On the outside, ZUK Z1 features a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a physical home button at the bottom of the screen with integrated fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port and loud speaker at the bottom panel. The volume and power button/lock key is placed on the right while a Dual SIM tray is fitted on the right side of the sealed ZUK Z1.
ZUK Z1 dons a simple and a classy finish and comes in white and grey colours.
ZUK Z1 also packs an impressive camera on both sides. The rear side of the handset features a 13-megapixel Sony Exmor RS sensor with f/2.2 aperture, OIS and dual LED flash. To cater the need of selfie lovers, there's an 8MP snapper onboard. The handset packs an impressive 4,100mAh battery and has a width of 8.9mm.
ZUK hasn't confirmed the availability of Z1 smartphone in individual markets but there is a lot of potential for the handset in India, where low-priced flagships tend to attract consumers. Since it is confirmed that the ZUK Z1 international variant will be launched by mid-October, we might hear more about its Indian availability in the near future.
