Lenovo Vibe P1 devices in India have reportedly started receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA (over-the-air) update. The Chinese smartphone maker has already seeded the firmware to the Lenovo K3 Note and the Lenovo A7000.
The administrator of Lenovo forum had revealed that Android 6.0 Marshmallow update would come to for the Vibe P1, P1A42 very soon. Meanwhile, members of the forum have confirmed that the firmware has already been rolled out to the device.
"We expect Marshmallow to be rolling out for the Vibe P1, P1A42, over the next few days. Please remember to back up all necessary contacts and files before clearing your cache and updating your device. It is also recommended to factory reset your device after updating," said a statement on Lenovo forum (via GSM Arena).
The Lenovo Vibe P1 ran on Android 5.1 Lollipop at the time of its release in October last year. The device sports a 5.5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with 1,080x1,920 pixels (401 ppi pixel density), and measures 152.9x75.6x9.9 mm in dimension. Under the hood, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615, a 32GB internal memory (expandable up to 128GB), a 2GB RAM, a 13MP main camera with f/2.2 aperture, a 5MP front-snapper and a non-removable Li-Po 5,000mAh battery.
How to install Android 6.0 Marshmallow via OTA on your Lenovo Vibe P1 device:
- Android 6.0 Marshmallow download notification will appear on your phone screen
- Press "Download" button
- Press "Restart & Install" button
- Rebooting will begin automatically
- You will see "Installing System Update" notice when installation starts
- Upgrading begins automatically
- Android 6.0 Marshmallow will run on your device after upgrading is done
You can also manually check availability of the new software by going to 'Settings' >> 'About phone' >> 'System updates' >> 'Check For Update'.
