Chinese smartphone maker Lenovo said it has sold 1 million units of its 4G smartphones in India since the beginning of 2015 through its exclusive online partner Flipkart.
The devices include Lenovo A6000, A6000 Plus and A7000.
"...our partnership with Flipkart gave consumers in more than 1000 cities/towns across the countries access to our 4G smartphone portfolio. Beyond the metros, we've seen also seen a good uptake in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh," said Sudhin Mathur, Director - Smartphones, Lenovo India.
Market research firm CyberMedia Research (CMR), in its quarterly data released last month, had said that 4G-LTE device shipments to India stood at 2.2 million units in the January to March quarter, a growth of 108 percent over 1.06 million units imported during the quarter ended December last year.
For Lenovo, the reason behind the phenomenal sales is the price-to-performance ratio offered by the three devices. Instead of concentrating only on 4G connectivity, the A6000, A6000 Plus and A7000 offer decent specifications along with quality camera, good battery life along with a decent build quality.
Lenovo A6000, the first budget 4G smartphone from Lenovo, features a 5-inch, 720x1280 pixel, 294PPI display and comes powered by a Snapdragon 410 Processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM with memory expandability. It has Android KitKat 4.4 operating system and packs 8MP+2MP camera combination.
Iterating the success formula of A6000, Lenovo launched a powerful edition of the same smartphone by doubling the RAM and internal memory. In comparison to Lenovo A6000, the A6000 Plus features 2GB RAM memory and 16GB in-built storage with expandability support.
On the camera front, the A6000 Plus boasts of an 8mp rear camera and a 2mp front camera. With a measured thickness of 8.2mm, the phone weighs 128g and retains the Dolby Digital audio effects, 4G connectivity and Snapdragon 410 SoC. The smartphone costs ₹7,499.
