Earlier in the day, Lenovo pulled the wraps off the much-awaited K4 Note in India.
The initial reaction from the public and critics on the new Lenovo phablet is very positive. K4 Note comes with a major upgrade both in terms of design and internal hardware.
To provide a better perspective on the Lenovo phablet siblings, we have compared in brief the key specifications of the K3 Note and the new K4 Note.
Design and Display:
Both Lenovo K4 Note and K3 Note flaunt the same 5.5-inch full HD display, but design-wise there is a stark difference between them.
The old K3 sports a rectangular candybar body with curved corners and speakers on the back. It's rear-side cover is made of plastic-based polycarbonate material.
On the other hand, the K4 Note is ergonomically designed. Its thickness tapers at the edge. In the middle, it measures 9.15 mm, whereas on the edge, it measures just 3.8 mm.
It flaunts a matte black shell made of the same polycarbonate compound, but its edges are covered by a metal alloy offering sturdy structure to withstand accidental drops and also provide a sense of premium. It also houses two three-grille speakers on the front-panel — one each on top and the bottom to provide enhanced audio experience.
Processor, RAM and storage capacity:
In this aspect, the K4 Note comes with a new MediaTek [MT6753] Octa-core processor backed by Mali T720-MP3 (up to 450MHz 3D graphics accelerator), 16GB (expandable up to 124GB) and 3GB RAM.
[Note: RAM is a very important component in a smart device. It optimises resource utilisation among applications and ensures the phone performs lag-free during multi-tasking or playing power-intensive game. More the RAM capacity, more efficiently the device works.]
K3 Note houses a 64-bit 1.7GHz Mediatek [MT6752] Octa-core (ARM Cortex-A53) CPU backed by 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt memory with option of expansion up to 32GB.
Mobile operating system:
In this aspect, both K4 Note and K3 Note stand even as they run the same Android Lollipop OS. Both are guaranteed to receive the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

Camera:
K3 Note and K4 Note come with same 13MP camera on the rear side with dual-LED flash, but the new phone's image processing is better.
K4 Note boasts ISOCELL camera sensor with F2.2 Aperture, PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus), full HD recording capturing ability.
And on the front, both house a decent 5MP selfie camera.
Battery:
K3 Note features a 3,000-mAh battery, which can run the phone for up to 36 hours of talktime and close to 750 hours (that's 31 days) in standby mode.
On the other hand, the new K4 Note features a 3,300-mAh cell capable of powering the phone for up to 23 hours (2G) of talktime and close to 12 days in standby mode.
Value-added features:
Fingerprint sensor- The company has ergonomically placed a fingerprint sensor on the rear side (below camera module). With biometric technology in place, K4 Note users will get an additional layer of security to protect data in their smartphones.
NFC (Near Field Communication)- NFC is the ultimate short-range data transfer technology. It is a faster version of Bluetooth, wherein they just need to bring two devices close and tap to transfer data.
Theater Max- If buyers have few extra bucks to spend, they can grab ANT VR for Rs 1,299. It is an augmented-reality headgear that converts media content (movies, games, online streaming) into a virtual wide-screen cinematic experience dubbed TheaterMax.
