Leading Chinese handset maker Lenovo has become the largest 4G smartphone brand in India. According to IDC's Asia/Pacific Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, Q2 2015 report, the budget mobile phone maker is the largest 4G smartphone brand with a total market share of 29.4 percent. Lenovo reached the place by offering aggressively priced 4G smartphones at various price points.
The K3 Note, A7000 and A6000 famed brand managed to sell 1 million 4G smartphones out of the 3.5 million 4G devices sold in the country.
According to the report, Lenovo has also become the fifth largest smartphone brand with 4.4 per cent share in the Indian market. The company witnessed immense success with its wide portfolio of 4G smartphones.
Talking about the milestone, director (smartphones) Lenovo India Sudhin Mathur said, "India is one of the most important growth markets for Lenovo smartphones. We have been at the forefront of technology ahead of time and created a niche in the market with a robust portfolio of 4G smartphones. We will continue to lead the technological curve and introduce more innovative, future-proof devices and expand our reach in Tier II and Tier III cities across the country."
Lenovo has seen phenomenal growth this year with 3.3 times increase in sales compared to the corresponding quarter last year. Overall, the shipment of smartphones to India has increased by 44 percent as compared to the same period last year.
IDC reported that 26.5 million smartphones were shipped to India during Q2 2015.
Lenovo's presence in both online and offline channels has provided consumers with better access to its smartphone portfolio in more than 1,000 cities and towns across the country.
