In India, consumers have whole-heartedly welcomed feature-heavy smartphones with affordable price tags, moving away from brand-oriented high-priced handsets. Companies like Xiaomi, Lenovo, Motorola, Asus and many others drew a new path in the smartphone industry. Handsets, ranging between Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 15,000, have become a popular choice for shoppers.
Lenovo unveiled a trio of new smartphones, A1000, A6000 Shot and K3 Note Music. The A6000 Shot is priced under Rs. 10,000, making it more approachable for shoppers who do not wish to compromise on the specs. While we listed the specifications of all three phones on Tuesday, we picked up the camera-focused A6000 Shot to compare it with Asus Zenfone 2 Laser, which is also known for its camera capabilities.
Display and design
Lenovo A6000 Shot continues the company's signature style and comes with rounded corners and flat back plastic candy bar design. The handset measures 140.9 x 70.5 x 8.4mm and weights 130 grams. A6000 Shot features a 5-inch IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.
Asus Zenfone 2 Laser comes with a matte finished curved back and looks a lot like other handsets in the Zenfone series. The handset flaunts a 5.5-inch display with the same resolution as Lenovo A6000 Shot. For added protection, the Zenfone 2 Laser comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
The design and size difference in both handsets can play a vital role in choosing the right phone. Asus Zenfone smartphone looks more stylish but the Lenovo A6000 Shot comes with a sturdy design.
Camera
Both smartphones are touted to possess extensive camera capabilities. Lenovo A6000 Shot features a 13-megapixel rear facing camera with autofocus and LED flash. The selfie camera has a 5-megapixel sensor.
Comparatively, Asus Zenfone 2 Laser packs a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with real tone flash and laser auto focus. On the front side of the handset, there is a 5MP snapper to take care of the selfies. Notably, both camera sensors pack an f/2.0 aperture.
Real world comparison will give us a better idea of what these smartphones have to offer but the specs on paper do not seem too bad for the price.
Under the hood
Both smartphones offer 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable memory. Lenovo A6000 Shot and Asus Zenfone 2 Shot are powered by the same Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor clocking speeds at 1.2GHz.
Both smartphones will offer similar performance, so there is little to worry about while choosing the right handset.
Battery
Thesedays, smartphones tend to run out of juice before the day ends. Lenovo A6000 Shot packs a 2,300mAh battery while Asus Zenfone 2 Laser is powered by a much bigger 3,000mAh battery. Clearly, for those who wish their smartphones run longer, Asus Zenfone 2 Laser is a more viable choice.
Price
Both phones are priced similarly. Asus Zenfone 2 Laser is available on Flipkart for Rs. 9,999 and the Lenovo A6000 Shot will hit the offline retail stores at Rs. 9,999.
Our say
Based on the specifications of both handsets and their price, the decision to choose the right handset is little tough. But there are some features in the Asus Zenfone 2 Laser such as battery, design and display size that make it a better choice than Lenovo A6000 Shot.
