At least seven Lenovo devices will get Google's latest software Android 5.0 Lollipop update very soon.
Lenovo has announced that its devices - A5000, A6000, P70-A, S90-A, VIBE X2 (Lenovo X2), VIBE Z2, and VIBE Z2 Pro (Lenovo K920) – that currently run on Android 4.4 KitKat will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the second quarter of 2015.
The technology giant didn't reveal the exact release date of the software to its devices but hinted that it could fall between April and June. However, it said the actual "Released Date" date could change.
The company went on to say that the "upgrade is only applied to the models above bought from retail market; operators customized or contract models are not covered." The upgrade will be done through Over-The-Air (OTA).
It may be mentioned that Android 5.0 Lollipop update come to many devices late despite Google Nexus devices and a few others getting it a few months ago. Even Samsung's flagship device, the Galaxy Note 4 received the firmware just a few days ago and that too in select countries – Poland and South Korea.
To check if Android 5.0 Lollipop update is available for your Lenovo device, go to Settings-->About--> Phone Software updates-->Check now. You may also get a notification if the firmware update is available to your device.
Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with redesigned interface and fluid animations. The new UI design dubbed as Material Design, Notifications Panel change, transparent background etc give a new experience to android phone users. The new software will also be compatible with 64-bit processors and improve battery life.
