LeEco hosted a grand launch event in Mumbai to make major announcements around its products and services in India, and also launched the affordable Le 1s Eco smartphone on Tuesday. The Le 1s Eco replicates the original Le 1s, which has earned the title of the best online selling smartphone in India, on several levels and adds more to it.
LeEco Le 1s Eco is the company's first "Made for India" device, compatible with the newly-launched ecosystem membership programme in India.
"To cope with the LeEco membership programme, we introduce a special 'Made for India' Superphone, the Le 1s Eco, the first of its kind of integrating a content ecosystem. The Le 1s Eco will redefine entertainment in the country," LeEco India COO Atul Jain said while launching the device during Mumbai's event on Tuesday. "With this Blockbuster Superphone, we live up to our promise of offering the best value, breakthrough technology and great features at a disruptive price."
The Le 1s Eco, besides looking similar to the Le 1s, offers identical specifications. It is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core 64-bit MediaTek Helio X10 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The Le 1s Eco sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 403ppi, a 13MP primary camera with ISOCELL sensor and a 5MP front-snapper.
Much like the Le 1s, the new Eco variant comes with a metal uni-body with a screw-less design, USB Type-C port for charging and a rear-facing fingerprint sensor. The handset features a 3,000mAh battery with fast-charging tech, dual SIM support and Dolby DTS integrated speakers.
The event's highlight wasn't the Le 1s Eco, but the announcements made around LeEco's content ecosystem and new membership programme.
"Today we launched our innovative LeEco membership programme with partnerships with Eros Now, Hungama and YuppTV. LeEco is the sole company that delivers a membership programme which integrates terminals, clouds and applications in India. Indian Superfans can enjoy more than 2,000 movie titles through Le Vidi, over 100 TV channels via Le Live, and 2.5 million music tracks under LeEco membership," said Jain.
LeEco launched the membership programme in India for Rs. 4,900 a year, but introduced a limited-period bundle offer with Le 1s Eco, where buyers can get both the device and the membership for Rs. 9,999. But the offer is valid only for the first flash sale of 100,000 units of Le 1s Eco, which will be available exclusively on Flipkart on May 12 at 2 p.m. Registrations for the sale have already begun on Flipkart.
