Fans of Lee Min-Ho can rejoice now as the latest reports suggest that the actor will return to television screens with a new drama scripted by Park Ji-eun. The "Boys over Flowers" star's upcoming project is scheduled to air in November 2016 on SBS.
For a while now, rumours of Lee Min Ho's casting in the new SBS drama have been swirling on the internet. However, it was only on Monday, May 30, that his role was confirmed. Suzy Bae's boyfriend will star alongside actress Jun Ji-hyun.
The actor's new drama, whose working title is "Legend of the Blue Sea," is based on a collection of Korean historical romance stories titled "Eou Yadam" written by Joseon scholar Yu Mong-In. The plot details the life of real-life hero, a county magistrate named Kim Dam-Ryung, who returns mermen and mermaids back to the sea, according to Soompi.
This would be actress Jun's second drama with scriptwriter Park. She had earlier worked with him on hit TV series, "My Love from the Star," which went on to become a huge success in China. In fact, it is this star casting in Park's "Legends of the Sea" that has generated interest among many Chinese broadcasters.
According to another report on Soompi, one Chinese company has offered $500,000 for licensing rights. However, the production company has claimed that the rights might be sold for as much as $600,000. This would make it the highest selling drama in Korea, a title which "Descendants of the Sun" proudly holds.
The actor's upcoming drama will reportedly air on Wednesdays and Thursdays on SBS.
