Piracy is a huge issue in the cinema and music industry, whether it is Bollywood, regional Indian films or even Hollywood and World Cinema. The latest to have borne the brunt of online piracy is not even a full-length feature film but a biopic released on the web and mobile app - Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story of Sunny Leone.
Adult star turned Bollywood actor Sunny Leone's biopic, which was made exclusively for and released on the newly launched Zee 5 app of the Zee Entertainment group, has been leaked on a website.
While International Business Times, India has not accessed the website, a report on NewsX reveals a screenshot the website with several Indian and Hollywood films in the list of pirated material available. Sunny Leone's biopic Karenjit Kaur – The Untold Story of Sunny Leone is available in various versions on the website.
Sunny Leone's real name is Karenjit Kaur. She is a Canadian national and went on to be a pornstar and Penthouse Pet of the Year. Sunny Leone first entered India through the reality show Bigg Boss to show people her real side. Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt had entered the Bigg Boss house to offer her a film. Sunny Leone subsequently made her Bollywood debut in his film Jism 2, directed by former actress Pooja Bhatt. Jism 2 didn't do too well, but it helped Leone establish a name for herself in the film industry. She was even seen in the song Laila in Shah Rukh Khan's Raees.
Sunny Leone has now decided to come out with her biopic to tell her story. The web series has been received well, which might have contributed to people searching for a leaked version. The latest hit web series Sacred Games starring Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui was also leaked on the piracy platform.
Bollywood suffered huge losses when entire movies like Udta Punjab and Grand Masti were leaked online just before the movie's release. Sunny Leone's biopic web series Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story of Sunny Leone is the latest victim of pirates.
