A 21-year girl was allegedly gang raped inside Jnanabharathi campus of Bangalore University on Saturday night.
The incident reportedly took place at 9:00 pm when the victim, a second-year undergraduate of National Law School, was heading out with a male friend to a forested area around two kilometres away from the Centre for Gandhian Studies, the Times of India reported.
A group of eight drunken men noticed the car the victim and her friend were driving in, and knocked down the windshield of the car before pulling them out. The men then began hitting the boy and dragged them deeper into the forest.
When the miscreants demanded the duo to hand over their valuables, the boy went to the car to retrieve his wallet. After heading back to give them money, the boy did not find the girl and the gang. He ran to the campus and informed a police constable who began to comb through the area in search of the girl.
Later, the boy received a call from the girl saying that she is in her hostel room. The gang had reportedly dropped off at her hostel after raping her.
After reporting the incident at the Jnanabharathi police station, the victim was made to undergo medical test. Investigations have begun based on the complaint filed, but no arrests have been made yet.
