Lava expanded its affordable smartphone portfolio with the all-new A79 that was launched in India on Wednesday. The latest budget smartphone is priced at Rs. 5,699 and offers entry-level features suffice to get first time users to jump on board with Lava.
Lava said the A79 smartphone would be available across all retail stores in India, Gadgets360 reported. For the price, Lava A79 comes with a 5.5-inch display, a 5-megapixel primary camera with LED flash and a 2MP front snapper for selfies.
Lava A79 is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and offers 8GB expandable storage. The handset has a 2,200mAh battery, supports 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. The most unique feature of the A79 smartphone is its Smart Screenshot, which stitches multiple screenshots from the entire page instead of just the screen that is visible.
Lava is constantly expanding its smartphone portfolio. Last month, it had launched three budget smartphones -- A76, A72 and A89 -- with 4G LTE and VoLTE support. The A76 smartphone was priced at Rs. 5,699, but unlike the A79, it had 4G support. But the A79 offers other specs superior than those in the A76.
The A76 has a 4.5-inch display, a VGA front camera with LED flash and a smaller 1,850mAh battery. Lava's A72 sports slightly better specs, such as a 2,500mAh battery, and the same 5-inch display. Lava A89 is pretty much same as the A79, but priced at Rs. 5,999 and it offers a 5-inch display, a 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera with LED flash on both sides.
Earlier this month, Lava had launched its A67 smartphone, which was also equipped with a front-facing LED flash for its 2MP camera. It is priced at Rs. 4,549 and has front facing speakers, gesture support and Smart Screenshot.
