Lava Iris 505: Budget 5.0-Inch, Dual-Core Smartphone Officially Launched in India for ₹8,999

Indian smartphone maker Lava International on Thursday officially launched a budget-priced handset, Iris 505, a day after it unveiled the quad-core Iris 506Q smartphone.

Both Iris 505 and Iris 506Q are already available at online store Snapdeal for ₹8,999 and ₹11,700, respectively. E-retailer Flipkart has also listed the devices, but is yet to begin sales. 

Lava Iris 505 sports a 5.0-inch FWVGA display with 854x480p resolutions and runs on the Android v4.2 Jelly Bean OS powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 512MB RAM. It packs 4GB inbuilt memory which can be expanded up to 32GB via micro SD slot.

The device boasts of a 5.0-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash support on the rear side and 0.3-megapixel (VGA) snapper on the front side. It is is backed by a 2000 mAh Li-Polymer battery which can support upto six hours of 2G talk time and 4.5 hours on 3G connectivity mode.

Its more expensive sibling, Iris 506q, sports a slightly superior 5.0-inch qHD display with 960x540p resolution and is powered by a more efficient 1.2GHz quad-core processor. Apart from these specifications, this smartphone packs pretty much the same features that are seen inside the Iris 505.

Recently, the company was panned for the indefinite postponement of its next-generation Iris Pro series launch, which was scheduled for 25 August. To pacify Lava fans, the company has opened a new registration link, where people have to enter their email-IDs to get exclusive details of the upcoming flagship phone.

A television advertisment about Lava Iris Pro revealed that the device will feature 720p HD display, 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, Android Jelly Bean OS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth technology. The Lava phone has garnered attention for its frame design, which is heavily influenced by Apple's iPhone.
