A new official development from Nokia confirms that the Finland-based company will release its most expected Android smartphones in 2017. These phones will be branded as Nokia but will be manufactured by HMD Global that is the owner of Nokia's smartphone hardware brand.
The latest information stems from a presentation created by Nokia to present to investors. The Nokia Technologies | Looking Forward section mentions "Nokia brand's return to smartphones". This statement throws light on Nokia releasing smartphones in 2017. These would be Android powered devices, as Windows Phones are now released only by Microsoft.
However, the Android OS iteration that loyalists can expect within Nokia Android devices that would be released in 2017 is not known yet. Also, it is possible that Nokia would officially launch the Android-powered smartphones at next year's Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017) at which the Finnish manufacturer's presence is highly expected.
However, technical aspects of the new Nokia phones such as the key hardware/software specifications are yet to be officially revealed even though rumour mills are abuzz with unofficial details.
