FOX's freshman comedy show "The Last Man on Earth", has officially been renewed for a second season, five episodes ahead of season 1 finale. The show created by "Saturday Night Live" alum Will Forte has not only achieved popularity, but also positive reviews from critics.
The post-apocalyptic comedy, which debuted with two-hour special premiere "Alive in Tuscon" and "The Elephant in the Room" on 1 March, was officially picked up for season 2 on 8 April. With 5.75 million viewers and an average rating of 2.4 among adults between the ages of 18 and 49, the premiere episodes of "The Last Man on Earth" became the highest-rated broadcast of 1 March in that demographic.
The "Nebraska" star's character has been facing bad luck, ever since the arrival of second-last man on earth, Todd (Mel Rodriguez). Both the ladies Carol (Kristen Schaal) and Melissa (January Jones) have been showering their attention on the kind, selfless and talented Todd, making Phill feel a little left-out.
However, rumour mills are suggesting that the upcoming two-special episode titled "The Do-Over/ Pranks for Nothin'" is expected to bring Phill some much-needed good luck. The four lone survivors may even be getting a new companion – a cow.
Todd may be the recipient of some bad news, when he receives a "Thank You" from Melissa, after Todd tells her that he loves her. Meanwhile, Phill and Carol may have to make some sleeping adjustments, as Phill asks Carol if she absolutely has to wear her mask while sleeping and she gently reminds her better half that "sleep apnea's a part of who I am. Just like dandruff and aggressive night toots are a part of who you are".
Watch out for season 1 episodes 9 and 10 of "The Last Man on Earth" at 9.00 pm (EST) on FOX on 12 April, and the season finale on 3 May.
