Land Rover India's latest SUV, the Discovery Sport, has been receiving good response from buyers. Launched on 2 September, the luxury SUV made headlines with the 200 pre-launch bookings.
A report from Carwale indicates the post-launch booking of the Discovery Sport has now crossed 400 units and the waiting period now stands at four months.
The first entrant in the newly formed Discovery family of SUV's from the Land Rover, the Discovery Sport was launched for a price starting at Rs 46.1 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Sold in S, SE, HSE, and HSE Luxury trims, the Discovery Sport comes with 5+2 seating options which none of the rivals offers in its segment.
The Discovery Sport rivals against the likes of the Audi Q5, the BMW X3 and the Volvo XC 60. The starting price, which is lesser than its rivals, seems to have attracted prospective luxury SUV customers towards the Discovery Sport.
The SUV is powered by the 2.2-litre diesel engine with two power outputs. The 147bhp version is available with S, SE and HSE version, while the 187bhp state of tune is reserved for top-spec HSE luxury variant. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
The SUV also offer a host of comfort features such as panoramic roof, Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, cruise control, parking sensors, dual zone climate control, Adaptive MagneRide suspension, premium quality leather, Meridian surround audio system with 17 speakers and rear-seat entertainment package depending upon the variant.
The SUV is also equipped with Terrain Response system, which is the four-wheel drive system, allowing the SUV to traverse on different surfaces.
