Lamborghini India launched its new sports car, the Huracan LP580-2 rear-wheel-drive(RWD) version, for Rs 2.99 crore. The India launch happens two days after the global unveiling held at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show.
To differentiate the RWD version from the regular Huracan LP 610-4 all-wheel-drive counterpart, Lamborghini has restyled the front and rear ends. The new front bumper produces more down-force and the car also has a retuned steering and suspension setup. The RWD Huracan runs on a set of 19-inch wheels coated in Pirelli PZero rubber.
The Huracan RWD is powered by the same naturally aspirated 5.2-litre engine that does duty in the regular model. The power now stands at 571bhp, which is 30bhp less than the regular model. The engine in RWD model also develops 540Nm of torque which is 20Nm less over the regular model. The RWD is mated to Lamborghini Doppia Frizione (LDF) seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
The RWD Huracan also sheds some weight in the absence of front axle. The sports car weighs 1,389 kg, 33 kg less than the Huracan LP 610-4 coupe. However, the vehicle is slower than the regular model. In fact the RWD Huracan is the slowest offering from Lamborghini until now. The car requires an additional 0.2 seconds to reach the 3.2 second 0-100kmph time of regular Huracan coupe.
The Huracan LP580-2 is the new entry level sports car in Lamborghini India's product line-up. The car will be available at three dealer showrooms, in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
