Italian sports car maker Automobili Lamborghini is reportedly plans to kick start 2017 with hotter version of its flagship model, the Aventador. The new version will be christened as Aventador S and its launch has been scheduled in January.
Although there are no photographs at present, the media invitation describes Aventador S as "new design, superior power and a mix of advanced technologies" reports Autocar. Lamborghini launched Aventador, the mid-engined sports car in Feburary 2011 as the successor of then-decade-old Murcielago. The Aventador S of Sant'Agata Bolognese-based car maker is to keep the sports car fresh till the arrival of new version expected by the end of this decade. Hence it is expected feature nip and tuck instead of complete overhaul.
Aventador's launch will take place at the Ricardo Tormo Formula 1 track, where the car's 'active technology' can be experienced. This indicates a lot of driver centric features can be expected. The face of the sports car is expected to get some tweaks that will generate more downforce. At the rear, the car is set to get a new rear wing again to improve more downforce.
The 6,498cc V12 engine in Aventador now develops 691bhp and 690Nm of torque and power is transmitted to all four wheels via 7 speed ISR transmission. In the Aventador S, the numbers are expected to increase to 759bhp akin to the Centenario special edition. The Aventador S is also expected to inherit the Centenario's rear-wheel steering system. Currently, the Lamborghini sports car needs just 2.9 seconds to reach 0-100kmph before reaching top speed 350kmph. These figures are expected to go up with more power from the engine.
