Actress Lakshmi Manchu celebrated her daughter Vidya Nirvana's first birthday with differently-abled children at an orphanage in Tirupathi on 14 June.
Vidya Nirvana was born through surrogacy at a clinic on 15 June last year.
Lakshmi Manchu married Andy Srinivasan a few years ago.
While everybody was expecting her to host a big birthday bash for her daughter, the actress-cum-producer took the toddler to the orphanage where she cut a cake and shared it with the children there.
Lakshmi Manchu's act surprised many industry bigwigs who were impressed with her noble gesture. The actress explained her decision saying she wanted to inculcate in Vidya at a very young age the joy of sharing.
"Both Andy and I don't get the point of throwing a big glitzy party. We decided to take her to Tirumala instead for a darshan and spent the entire afternoon at an orphanage where she cut the cake. Vidya had a ball with the kids who took to her and she grooved with them as they sang songs and danced, before falling asleep. I want to instill the joy of giving in Vidya. She can have a big bash when she grows up," Lakshmi told The Times of India.
Lakshmi Manchu's hubby shares his daughter's birthday. So, it was a double celebration for the couple.
On 14 June, the actress tweeted: "Thankq 4 making this world more loving. It's a year already! Happy 1st birthday my darling baby. I'm crazy abt u I thank god for your love and grace each day. So happy u were born. Happy birthday @premanand6 love u my best friend."
