French carmaker Renault's small hatchback Kwid is unstoppable in India. The small car with an SUV-stance continues to retain its momentum and the car has crossed sales of 1,10,000 units since its entry into the market in October 2015.
The Kwid, the hatchback, which is now available in three models -- Kwid 800cc, Kwid 1.0 litre and Kwid AMT -- has recorded 56,028 unit sales in the first half of FY 2016-17 and continues to have a waiting period of over six months in the country. Renault is expected to add more variants to Kwid in the coming months. The Kwid has raked in 1.65 lakh bookings.
The Kwid comes powered by a 799cc three-cylinder petrol motor, which is tuned to churn out 53bhp at 5,678rpm and a peak torque of 72Nm at 4,386rpm, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The car also returns ARAI-claimed fuel efficiency of 25.17kmpl. On the other hand, the 1.0 litre variant of the model gets 999cc 3-cylinder engine that can churn out 67bhp of power at 5500rpm and 91Nm of torque at 4250rpm. The Kwid 1.0 litre claims to deliver a mileage of 23.01 kmpl.
The new Kwid AMT, which was launched in November 2016, is available in the top-end RXT variant of the car, and comes powered by a 1.0-litre engine. The Kwid 1.0 litre AMT claims to deliver a fuel efficiency of 24.04 kmpl, which is higher than the mileage of Kwid 1.0litre that stands at 23.01kmpl.
The Kwid houses many segment leading features such as 7-inch touchscreen Media Nav system, digital Instrument cluster, one-touch lane change indicator pro-sense seat belt and many more.
