The sales report for the month of May gave utility vehicle specialist Mahindra & Mahindra reasons to cheer and worry. The sales of its micro SUV, the KUV100, which was launched in January increased, while the Bolero's sales declined. Mahindra sold 4,446 units of the KUV100 in May and managed to sell only 4,419 units of the Bolero, Carwale reported. This also made the KUV100 the bestselling Mahindra vehicle in May.
Even though the KUV100 sales are healthy compared to April 2015, it saw a marginal decline. However, in the case of Bolero, the decline is 23.6 percent month-on-month. The Bolero has been making 7,000 monthly sales till last year and it is the bestselling UV for the past 10 years in India. Post-launch of Hyundai Creta in July 2015, Bolero's sales saw decline. With the launch of the Vitara Brezza in March, Bolero's sales slumped further. According to the reports, Bolero is the third bestselling UV in May behind the Vitara Brezza and the Hyundai Creta.
Mahindra & Mahindra is reportedly working on a facelift version of the Bolero. A prototype of what is believed to be the Bolero facelift surfaced online earlier this month, hinting at the imminent arrival of the SUV. The changes are likely to be limited to cosmetic modifications and the facelift is likely to continue with the same engine.
