"Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi" starring newcomers Siddharth Gupta, Simran Kaur Mundi, Pallavi Batra and Brijendra Kala has opened to mediocre reviews from critics.
The film is directed by Aman Sachdeva and jointly produced by Ekta Kapoor and Bejoy Nambiar. It is set in Delhi and the story line focuses on friendship.
Looking at the trailer, it was expected that the film would be a fun show, but it fails to live up to the expectation. The film lacks storyline and disappoints despite having some bold and hilarious dialogues.

Madhureeta Mukherjee of The Times of India said: "Here's a dosti-yaari story packaged and dished out in pure Dilli dhaaba-style - with local tadka (no extra toppings). With a young, fresh star-cast - minus frills and fanfare. No mundas baring bronzed six-pack bods or gori mundis dancing to disco bhangra, 'Yo-Yo' style (Hadippa!). It's as simple as aloo paratha with lassi. Gettit?
"Sachdeva's plot is straightforward. The story doesn't offer much, but it's the jhund of characters that make you chortle with their spontaneous lines and lingo.
"Funny situations and scenes with quirky characters provide clean humour but that can't substitute for the lack of a good, engaging story. Debutants Siddharth and Ashish are decent; and colony ka tota (read: hottie) Simran, as Kuku's love interest, doesn't have much scope."
Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama said: "KUKU MATHUR KI JHAND HO GAYI not only boasts of a hatke title, but makes an attempt to provide humor and entertainment in the alternate landscape. Like DELHI BELLY and FUKRAY, the backdrop is Delhi, the storyline is simplistic and relatable, but the humor is not over the top.
"On the whole, KUKU MATHUR KI JHAND HO GAYI is a light entertainer that's simple-n-sweet, charming and most importantly, entertaining for most parts."
Mohar Basu of Koimoi.com said: "The film's title itself is so deterring that audiences won't exactly be attracted to the name of it. And if they are, Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi hardly has anything solid to offer to them. It's a dull, flat film which doesn't allow you a moment of fun. The romance doesn't have any magic and the second half is so convolutedly scripted that doesn't rise above tedious. The general quality of cinema in this country is deteriorating and films like these are a pile on to mediocrity.
"Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi is a jhand film which is better avoided. With a lack of soul and a half baked storyline, the film is a bad mishmash of convoluted screenplay, dull writing and hasty execution. Though 109 minutes helps, the exasperation of having to watch the film surpasses the minuscule joy of it being a relatively short film."
Akshay Kaushal of IBNLive said: "The movie fails to hold you for long. Ywan! #KukuMathurKiJhand The first half of #KukuMathurKiJhand has only few scenes that are witty, otherwise most of the scenes are stretched. #KukuMathurKiJhand lacks storyline and disappoints you despite being a comedy movie.
"Caution: Keep your brain at home while you watch this movie, coz #KukuMathurkiJhand can do your jhand.Phew!"
