Following the government's decision to withdraw the excise concession available for Indian automobile industry, many auto makers in the country have announced their decision to hike the prices for their models. Now the latest one to join the price hike league is the Austrian bike-maker KTM.
If recent report of Motoroids has to be believed, KTM has increased the prices of its bike models in India by up to ₹9,000. Going by this report, the prices of the company's latest offerings in the country namely RC 390 and RC 200, which were originally priced at ₹2.05 lakh and ₹1.60 lakh is now available at a premium of ₹8,000 and ₹6,000 respectively.
On the other hand, Duke 390 and Duke 200, the naked-bikes of KTM has now become dearer by ₹8,987 and ₹7,190 respectively. KTM Duke 200 was priced at ₹1,30,787 and the Duke 390 was available for ₹1,80,942.
Meanwhile, rumours are rife that KTM is planning to introduce slipper clutch for its RC bikes in the country. Slipper clutch is used to control the rear wheel of a bike from locking up during downshifts, which can result in rear-wheel locking. This will help the bike to stay stable under heavy braking.
Launched on 9 September, the duo KTM RC 390 and RC 200 have been earning tremendous response from the bike lovers in the country.
Under the hood, KTM RC 390 packs 375cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which can churn out a power of 43bhp and a torque of 35nm, whereas the KTM RC 200 packs 200cc, single-cylinder engine that can pump out 24bhp and 19nm. For both the bikes, the transmission comes from 6-speed gearbox.
