Bollywood's reliable superhero, Krrish, is expected to return to celluloid on Christmas 2018. Producer-director Rakesh Roshan said that the film will go on floors sometime in 2017.
After being shown a picture of Ganesha dressed in Krrish's costume, Rakesh was certain that it was a go-ahead signal from the almighty.
"When my wife showed me Bappa's picture, it reaffirmed my belief that Krrish is the original superhero we have. It boosted my confidence and inspired me to make the fourth installment. Ganesha is also called the God of Auspicious beginnings. I guess this was his way of saying that we have his blessings for 'Krrish 4,'" the Times of India quoted him as saying.
The interesting bit is that Shah Rukh Khan's as-yet-untitled film with Aanand L Rai is expected to hit the screens on Christmas, Dec. 21, 2018 to be precise. If the both the films are released as per the announced dates, it will be SRK and Hrithik's second clash in a short span of time, after the face-off between their "Raees" and "Kaabil" on Jan. 26, 2017.
Here's why it's going to be a colossal box office battle:
A franchise usually enjoys a loyal fan base, which is where "Krrish 4" scores. The action-drama has always clicked with the family audience. Also, it's definitely going to be bigger (in scale) than the previous one, which means a stronger storyline, tighter VFX and a considerable spike in budget.
Shah Rukh's film may have to work hard to establish audience loyalty, but the release date announcement has already triggered a strong buzz among fans. The project will see the superstar essay a role he hasn't played before, that of a dwarf, for which the makers are heavily relying on CGI.
"I would have a problem if I have to do it on my knees. I am trying to avoid that part because that looks unreal and in today's time and age, you don't want to do that. So we are trying to figure out and we are doing R&D already," he told DNA earlier this year.
