Twenty-eight people have been killed and more than 20 people injured after a state-run RTC bus met with an accident near Kondagattu in Telangana's Jagityal district on Tuesday. All the injured have been admitted to nearby government hospitals, ANI reported.
According to Mumbai Mirror, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation bus fell off the Ghat road near Kondagattu. The Hanuman Temple in Kondagattu is a popular pilgrim centre and many devotees flock the temple on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
District collector Sarath told Mumbai Mirror that 15 passengers died on the spot while some succumbed to injuries. The inured were rushed to several hospitals in Karimnagar and Jagityal districts while the health department got some private doctors as well to render first aid to the injured on the spot.
The Mumbai Mirror report added that the bus was carrying nearly 62 passengers when the accident took place at the end point of the Ghat road. The front portion of the bus was left completely mangled after the accident. Most of the passengers had gone to attend the darshan at the Hanuman temple in Kondagattu while some were travelling from Sanivarapupet to Jagityal.
