With the summer season setting in, Kollywood is poised to witness some big clashes in theatres from mid-April with the release of "OK Kanmani", "Kanchana 2", "Vai Raja Vai" and finally, "Uttama Villain".
Though there are many speculations regarding the release dates of these movies, industry sources have suggested that "OK Kanmani" and "Kanchana2" will hit screens on 17 April, while "Vai Raja Vai" will be released on 24 April. "Uttama Villain" is likely to hit theatres on 1 May.
With these dates, it is almost confirmed that the big battle will be fought between Mani Ratnam's "OK Kanmami' and Lawrence's "Kanchana 2".
Meanwhile, "Kanchana 2" has been certified "U/A" by the Censor Board, with run-time of 2 hours and 45 minutes. The movie was earlier said to be released on 16 April, but now reports suggest that the movie would hit screens on 17 April.
"Kanachan2", a comedy horror movie is the third part of the "Muni series". Besides Lawrence, the movie also has star cast of Taapsee Pannu, Kovai Sarala, Devadarshini, Pooja Ramachandran and Jangiri Madhumitha.
Next in the list is Mani Ratnam's most-awaited movie "OK Kanmani" starring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen. The buzz the movie has generated is more than any other Mani Ratnam movie and the trailer, music and the teasers have also received overwhelming response. According to latest reports, the movie is awaiting certification. The cinematography of this urban-romantic flick has been done by PC Sreeram and music has been composed by AR Rahman.
Another movie is "Vai Raja Vai" directed by Aishwarya R Dhanush. The movie starring Gautham Karthik, Priya Anand and Tapsee Pannu has been certified "U" and the movie is mostly likely to hit screens on 24 April.
Coming to Kamla Haasan's movie "Uttama Villain", the flick has got "U" rating and expected to have worldwide release on 1 May. Earlier, it was reported that the movie would hit screens in April but sources suggest that the makers prefer a solo release on 1 May.
